Changes to Proposed Solid Waste Management Facilities (Part 360) Regulations

The DEC (Department of Environmental Conservation) will be hosting a public workshop to answer questions from the public on the changes to the Proposed Solid Waste Management Facilities (Part 360) regulations.

The last time comprehensive revisions were made to these regulations was in 1993.

The proposed revisions are intended to increase protection of public health, safety, natural resources and the environment. The proposed changes include measures to regulate previously unregulated facilities, activities and waste streams within the state’s existing solid waste management program. The revisions also streamline and will reduce regulatory burdens for entities, while still maintaining environmental protections.

Two workshops have been scheduled for Region 8 NYSDEC on April 15th, 2016 at the Rochester Institute of Technology Inn and Conference Center in Henrietta. These sessions are being held in advance of a June 7th, 2016 public hearing where formal comments regarding the proposed Part 360 revisions can be heard.
